Mighty Oak performs a wide array of applications to help trees defend themselves against many types of pests and diseases
This pest is responsible for the deaths of over 60 million Ash Trees in over 15 States and is now in Connecticut. There are preventative treatments that can save our Ash Trees before the Emerald Ash Borer gets to them (They will get to them eventually). They key is to treat the ash trees with a systemic pesticide that travels throughout the entire tree and controls the larvae that are feeding on the inside of the tree.
The Hemlock Woolly Adelgid is a very easy pest to spot on your hemlock trees. It leaves a white cotton like substance on the needles of the tree. This is where the adelgids lay eggs, hatch and suck the chlorophyll out of the needles, eventually killing the trees. There are several types of applications that are very effective for this problem. You can spray the trees 2-3 times a year with Horticultural Oil which smothers the eggs and doesn’t allow them to hatch and you can also treat the trees with a systemic pesticide that can help the problem.
This is a highly recommended treatment for all shrubbery and ornamental trees on commercial and residential properties. The best part about it is that you don’t have to use any chemicals. The whole treatment simply entails spraying horticultural oil on all of the shrubbery and ornamental trees, which smothers and controls many different types of pests that feed on them. Some of these pests include mites, aphids, and adelgids just to name a few.
Many trees can suffer from a variety of fungal diseases that can cause them to not flower properly or lose their leaves prematurely. Some cases can be fatal to the tree if not caught in time. Fungicide applications can help combat these problems, especially when used as a precautionary measure.
