Spotted Lantern Fly Treatment

The Spotted Lantern Fly is an invasive Pest that is threatening the health of a variety of Trees, Plants and Crops throughout the New England region by feeding on the sap.

They are very easy to spot once they are in the adult stage and although the tree they prefer the most is the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissma), they have been seen on all types of trees, including maples and oaks.

The life cycle of the Spotted Lantern Fly has one generation per year. The eggs are laid in Fall and hatch in Spring and they lay their eggs in a variety of places, including on manmade structures. Each egg mass has up to 40 eggs.

By Summertime the adults can be seen all over and most people will be able to identify them very easily if they can’t already.

Although control of the Spotted Lantern Fly can be tricky, we offer several different management options depending on each specific situation. If you have this pest on your property it’s best to have our Arborist assess the situation before it gets out of control and treatment formulate a plan.
